The demand for accessible, relevant horticulture information continues to grow among Kentucky producers, gardeners, and Extension agents. In response, a team of Extension Specialists with the Center for Crop Diversification and county Horticulture Agents launched Hort Culture, a weekly podcast focused on timely topics in horticulture, small farm production, and sustainable practices. By combining on-the-ground experience with research-based insights, the podcast aims to meet the needs of a diverse audience seeking flexible learning opportunities that fit into their busy schedules.
Hort Culture provides a collaborative platform to share expert knowledge and practical tools. Over the past year, the show has released one episode each week, resulting in more than 4,900 downloads. Listeners include farmers, educators, gardeners, and Extension professionals who value the podcast’s approachable tone and consistent, high-quality content. The podcast has been used for agent in-service training and has helped connect listeners to additional Extension resources. As the podcast expands its reach it's goal is to feature more voices from Kentucky agriculture, and continue to strengthen Extension’s impact through this engaging educational tool.
