For the third consecutive year, the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent from Bracken and Mason County's FCS Program Assistant have partnered to deliver the highly popular Meals Made Easy series. This program is designed for adults who are looking for fresh, simple, and healthy dinner ideas to help break out of the “same old thing” routine at mealtime.
Recognizing the need for practical cooking support in today’s busy households, the series is offered twice each month for 6 months—afternoons in Mason County, averaging 25 participants, and evenings in Bracken County, averaging 20 participants. This dual-county, flexible format allows more residents to access the program based on their schedules.
Each session includes:
A cooking demonstration of a budget-friendly, nutritious recipe
Taste testing and take-home recipes
Tips on meal planning, stretching food dollars, and reducing food waste
Participants consistently report that they look forward to the classes, not just for the food, but for the camaraderie, new skills, and inspiration they take home to their kitchens.
Survey Results from Final Class:
A post-series survey was conducted at the final class. Preliminary feedback shows:
80% of participants said they tried at least one recipe at home.
75% reported feeling more confident preparing quick and healthy meals.
90% reported learning a new skill/technique.
Conclusion:
Through collaboration, hands-on learning, and a shared love of good food, Meals Made Easy continues to make a positive impact on household routines, nutrition habits, and community wellness in Bracken and Mason Counties.
