This year the SOKY Earth Day Fair teamed up with the Cherry Blossom Festival to offer the public a combined event that would bring vendors and artists together on the square in Franklin. The events were planned to give southern Kentucky residents a total package of experiences that could not only provide valuable information about how to preserve ad protect our environment, but also enjoy the talents of artists who create and those who are musically gifted. The event, which was co-chaired by this Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, brought over 30 vendors and 15 artists together on Saturday, April 21, 2018. This event attracted over 750 people that day to Franklin and provided kids activities, produce for sale, Kentucky Proud ice cream, opportunities to recycle items, donate items, enjoy music and work with artists. Over 1000 trees were given away, plants were sold, and one business on the square reported their second best day of sales since opening over two years ago. Vendors reported almost $1900 in sales. The evaluation indicated that 100% of vendors felt that the event helped to promote their service or business to consumers. The evaluations also indicated that vendors felt the event was well organized, that there was a good variety of vendors and the addition of the Cherry Blossom Festival was a wise move for the committee.
