Senior Games 2025
Describe the Issue or Situation:
Programs that support active aging are critical for helping older adults stay physically engaged and socially connected. Events like the Senior Games not only provide fun and friendly competition for seniors but also create valuable opportunities for community collaboration and outreach.
Describe the Outreach or Educational Program Response:
The Senior Games, organized by KRADD, brought together more than 300 senior citizens from across the Quicksand Area to participate in games such as basketball throws, ring toss, and dance competitions. The event also hosted over 125 workers and vendors, offering resources and interactive booths focused on health, wellness, and senior services.
As partners in the event, Quicksand Area Family and Consumer Sciences and Agriculture Extension Agents played a key role in helping with food preparation and service. Agents worked together to prepare and distribute meals to attendees and vendors, contributing to the smooth flow of the day and offering a welcoming experience for all involved. The event also provided a valuable space for agents to network with regional partners and strengthen relationships with community leaders—including the presence of several county judges who showed their support for local seniors and the organizations serving them.
Provide the Number and Description(s) of Participants/Target Audience: More than 300 senior participants attended, alongside 125 vendors, volunteers, and officials from across the Quicksand Area. Extension agents served meals and interacted with attendees throughout the day.
Provide a Statement of Outcomes or Program Impact:
While not the lead organizers, Extension agents were proud to support the Senior Games as active community partners. Their involvement demonstrated Extension’s commitment to service, collaboration, and positive aging initiatives. The event also strengthened regional partnerships and offered a chance to engage directly with local leaders and community stakeholders.
Participation in the Senior Games allowed Extension to be part of a larger effort that uplifts seniors, celebrates active lifestyles, and showcases the power of working together for community impact.
