Describe the Issue or Situation.
I regularly participate in two radio programs. one is hosted on an AM station and i talk everyday once a month. I touch on timely topics for the listeners and give sound, research based information to those whom are listening. This station reaches about 15,000 people. I also record my radio program and send that recording to the station. The station then plays the recording at a later time in the day. this only helps to reach more people make a larger difference in my local community.
Once a week, i have another radio program that i do one day out of the week. I talk on the local FM station that has a very strong present to Lincoln County. This program allows me to talk live on air, and give pertinent information to our kind folks of Lincoln county and beyond. with todays online streaming services, folks around the world could be listening to the information that i am presenting on air. I have formed a great relationship with the host and also work along side the main sponsor of the station which is PBK Bank. This has been a great way for the local members of our community to hear from Extension.
I know the reach and impact to comminity members is real. I have had countless times people to come up to me, some i knew and some i didn't. They usually thank me for the information that i give during my time slot. This makes me good and encourages me to keep up with this type of programming. Radio works!
