Describe the Issue or Situation:
 In today’s world, personal safety and self-defense skills are becoming increasingly important, especially in communities with limited access to such education. Many individuals, regardless of age, feel the need to learn practical techniques to protect themselves in various situations. However, many community members, including youth, are unaware of available resources that can provide this critical knowledge.

Describe the Outreach or Educational Program Response (and Partners, if applicable):
 To address this need, the Extension Office partnered with Lee Kickboxing Academy to develop a self-defense class that provided essential skills in a supportive, educational environment. The program offered a hands-on approach, focusing on practical techniques such as basic striking (punches, kicks, knees), as well as more advanced moves like clinching, chokeholds, and joint locks. The partnership brought together professional instructors with valuable expertise, making the sessions both informative and empowering.

Provide the Number and Description(s) of Participants/Target Audience:
 The program attracted a wide range of participants, totaling 18 individuals. Among them were five children, six who were new to Extension programs, and two participants who had never been inside the Extension office before. This diverse group highlighted the community’s strong interest in self-defense education across different age groups.

Provide a Statement of Outcomes or Program Impact:
 The self-defense class had a significant impact on participants. Many expressed interest in attending another class in the spring, indicating that the program successfully met their needs and sparked enthusiasm. Participants reported feeling more confident in their ability to defend themselves after completing the program, and the hands-on nature of the sessions allowed them to apply what they learned in real-life scenarios. This class not only provided valuable self-defense techniques but also fostered a sense of community, introducing new participants to Extension.
