Plan of Work: Improve Individual and Family Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Recognizing the importance of financial literacy, the Powell County High School partnered with Powell County 4-H Youth Development Program to bring the innovative 4-H Reality Store experience to their sophomore students. The 4-H Reality Store is an interactive financial simulation designed to teach young people about budgeting, financial decision-making, and the realities of adult life. In the spring semester March 2025, all 109 sophomore students at Powell County High School participated in the 4-H Reality Store. The program was set up in the school gymnasium, transformed into a bustling "reality store" with different stations representing various financial obligations and life choices.  109 Sophomore students participated in the program.  28 community volunteers ran 16 different booths to simulate what life will be like "in the real world".  Over 90% of the sophomore class of Powell County High School said this program helped them improve their view of adult life and has improved some level of their financial literacy.
