Estate Planning can be a difficult process for many families. There are often more questions than answers when individuals begin to prepare to take on planning without the assistance of a professional. This can lead to individuals becoming frustrated and not finishing their estate plan.
The Greenup County Extension Agents for Family & Consumer Sciences and Agriculture & Natural Resources participated in a mini grant funded by University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University to conduct training on Navigating Kentucky Heir’s Property.
Greenup County Extension Agents partnered with a local attorney to conduct a two-day training course on Estate Planning. The training was available one evening and then again during the day to target working clients and those who are retired.
A survey document was sent to the individuals who participated in the training 3 months after the initial training. Based on the workshop 62 percent of the participants indicated they knew more about estate planning and where to find resources to help with estate planning.
One participant share “the training was very informative, we already have wills, however after this training we realized we need to make some changes to our wills.”
