Voices of Tomorrow: McCracken County's Rising Stars Shine in 2025 Communications Contest

Author: Heather Hunter

Planning Unit: McCracken County CES

Major Program: Communications & Expressive Arts

Plan of Work: McCracken County 4-H Communication and Arts Education

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The 2025 McCracken County Communications Contest was a resounding success this year, showcasing the remarkable talents and dedication of our community's youth towards mastering the art of public speaking. This year, we saw a significant increase in participation (nearly 50%), with 63 participants registered compared to 42 participants last year. Out of those registered, 50 participants competed, demonstrating their skills in various communication categories including both speeches and demonstrations.

The event drew an impressive 117 attendees, including family members, friends, and community supporters, all eager to witness the contestants' performances. We also had over 20 adult volunteers and 5 teen volunteers to assist in judging and running the contest smoothly. This turnout was a testament to the growing interest and support for the contest, highlighting its importance in fostering communication skills among young individuals.

The contest provided a platform for participants to express themselves, build confidence, and develop essential communication skills that will benefit them in their future endeavors. The enthusiasm and commitment of the participants were evident in their performances, making the event a memorable experience for everyone involved. McCracken County will have 14 participants moving on to represent our county in the Area Communications Contest, which will be held at the end of April in Carlisle County.

The success of the 2025 McCracken County Communications Contest reflects the hard work and dedication of the organizers, volunteers, and participants. It also underscores the value of community engagement in nurturing the talents of our youth. We look forward to continuing this tradition and witnessing even greater achievements in the years to come.
