Ag Week Giveaway

Plan of Work: Marketing, Diversifying, and Managing Local Agriculture
Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Many residents of Estill County are unaware of the resources available to them at the Extension Office. On Friday, March 28th, I hosted an Ag Bag Giveaway to promote UK Ag Week to draw in community members to our office. I created bags with SNAP Recipes, seeds from the 4-H Seed Library, information about FCS, calendars, pollinator coloring books, and other promotional items. I advertised the giveaway in the local newspaper, as well as on Facebook with a flyer and a video showing the seeds I grew from the seed library. On March 28th, I set up at 8:00 am and waited for clients. There were 28 people who attended throughout the day to get their free bag. Most, if not all, people who attended spent time talking to me about resources offered at the Extension office, or asking me any gardening questions they had. One client had never been to the office and did not know it existed. I was able to teach her about everything we do here, and how we help our community. Overall, I successfully built relationships in the community, while promoting the Extension office and all of the services that we offer.
