Use of AI to translate 2 additional pesticide training manuals into Spanish

Describe the Issue or Situation.
EPA has recently mandated chemical manufactures to produce bilingual labels for pesticides. The KY Department of Agriculture is considering offering pesticide certification testing in Spanish. These developments have pushed us to get our training manuals translated into Spanish, but we do not have the personnel or resources to get this accomplished. So we have turned to AI to get this done.
Describe the Outreach or Educational Program Response (and Partners, if applicable).
Using AI (ChatGPT) this year, we have translated two more manuals into Spanish written into a Mexican agricultural dialect at the 8th grade reading level. AI allows us to tailor the material using parameters that other on-line applications do not. These manuals were then reverse translated into English and compared, line by line for verification, then they were reviewed by native Spanish speakers during the review process. This process saves us money required to have a contractor do the work and allows use to make updates to the Spanish versions of the manuals in house and as needed.
Provide the Number and Description(s) of Participants/Target Audience.
We have yet to post the Spanish versions on line as we are working with UK Innovate to develop a website where we can offer all of our manuals for sale in order to better support the program. A small number have been sent out when applicators call me.
Provide a Statement of Outcomes or Program Impact. Please note that the outcomes statement must use evaluation data to describe the change(s) that occurred in individuals, groups, families, businesses, or in the community because of the program/outreach.
