Public speaking through speech and demonstrations

Participants in public speaking contests gain valuable skills such as enhanced confidence and improved communication abilities. They learn to articulate their thoughts clearly and engage their audience effectively. Additionally, these contests help individuals develop critical thinking and quick problem-solving skills as they respond to questions and feedback.

 These skills are highly beneficial in professional careers as they enhance one's ability to present ideas persuasively and negotiate effectively in the workplace. Improved communication abilities can lead to better teamwork and collaboration, as well as more successful client interactions. Furthermore, the confidence gained through public speaking can empower individuals to take on leadership roles and advance in their careers. 

Over time, individuals who excel in public speaking often find themselves in positions where their communication skills set them apart from their peers. They may be more likely to be considered for promotions and leadership positions due to their ability to convey ideas clearly and inspire others. Moreover, these skills can open doors to new career opportunities, such as roles in training, education, or public relations, where effective communication is key.

Our communication program while small in number has been large in impact. More than 50% of our members have gone on to successful use their communication skills with our community as well as regional, state, and national events. One youth attended the Kentucky Youth Assembly and not only had his bill pass but also received and outstanding speaker award. Another one of our youth in our communication program participated at the the 4-H FCS National Championship and Conference in San Antonio TX where she received 3rd place in interviewing and presentation. A third youth participant uses her communication skills at a local radio station to interview and broadcast local, regional, and state events.
