Outcome: Initial Outcome
Sewing has become more popular throughout the past year. As a result of this popularity, Green County FCS was asked to teach a sewing basics program to anyone that had an interest in sewing, growing their sewing skills, or even just a place for sewers to gather and complete projects together. Seven ladies attended this program; they participated in learning about the various parts of a sewing machine and what they do, practiced their stitches on various practice sheets with different shapes, and completed a hands-on sewing project.
The participants were able to make a grocery bag holder using a fat quarter, elastics, ribbon, and basic sewing supplies. 100% of the participants stated that this was a very beginner friendly project that helped them grow their sewing skills. 100% of the participants stated that they felt more confident using a sewing machine. 6 out of 7 of the participants stated that they would bring their knowledge back home and complete other projects such as mending clothing and making curtains for their home. So much interest was shown in this program that another one is currently being scheduled for next month!
