Keys to Embracing Aging: Taking Time for You
The American Heart Association (2011) recommends that each person make a conscious decision to do at least one personally enjoyable thing every day. “Taking time for you” is good for a person’s mind, body and soul. Even as few as 10 minutes a day can enhance health, overall well-being and optimal aging throughout the lifespan.
Johnson County presented Keys to Embracing Aging: Taking Time for You. 7 participants completed post lesson evaluations. As a result of the program, 7 participants reported improved understanding regarding the impact of personal time on the mind, body and soul. 7 reported intentions to implement at least one strategy that allows for more “me time.”
While 6 participants reported that they are currently taking at least 10 minutes a day for themselves, 7 participants indicated that they will make choices that allow for more personal time as a result of this program. Specifically, this program taught 7 participants that at least 10 minutes a day of “me time” can positively affect health and well-being now and in the future.
A valuable program, participants learned that relaxation does a lot for the body and that it is important to laugh often. All participants will be sent a 30-day follow-up evaluation.
