Leslie County Kentucky ranks number one in the nation for Heir's property. Heir's property is land that is owned jointly by multiple descendants of a person who has passed away. This causes major issues because land can not be used or sold. Some property in Leslie County is owned by over 400 heirs.
We reached out to property owners who had clear deeds to their property and heirs to property who wanted to get cleared deeds. We had 14 people who took advantage of this opportunity. All 14 had free wills created so their heirs would not find themselves in that situation.
Lawyers informed attendees about their options to clear up deeds to Heirs property. They also informed them about creating a will. One land owner discovered that his deed to his home and was falling into the category of becoming heir's property. The man's wife had passed away and he learned that her sisters, brothers, some of her nephews now owned a portion of his home and land. When the deed was created it was not made as a Survivorship Deed. In it's current state he would not be able to sale his home without getting their permission or paying them for the part that they owned. With this new found knowledge he was able to take care of the problem before even more people become heirs to his property. In
