Fuss Free Holidays series

Author: Abbigale Gray

Planning Unit: Mason County CES

Major Program: Financial Education - General

Plan of Work: Family and Consumer Sciences

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The Fuss Free Holidays program series successfully engaged 41 participants across three interactive sessions, providing practical tools and creative ideas to help attendees enjoy a more organized, budget-friendly, and stress-free holiday season.

The first session, attended by 10 participants, focused on creating personalized holiday planning journals. These journals empowered participants to stay organized, manage their budgets effectively, and approach holiday planning with confidence. Pictures from this session included above.

The second session, drawing 12 participants, explored innovative Fall and Halloween-themed ideas, including festive food and DIY decorations. Attendees particularly appreciated the introduction to "Boo baskets," a fun and economical gift-giving trend that encouraged thoughtful, creative generosity.

The final session, with the highest attendance of 19 participants, delved into Thanksgiving and Christmas preparations. Participants gained inspiration for holiday meal planning, learned cost-effective jar gift-making techniques (with two samples to take home), and discovered budget-friendly decoration ideas to enhance their celebrations.

During the last two sessions, participants received folders filled with new recipes and UK publications offering additional resources and information. They also had the opportunity to sample at least two of the recipes included in their folders, providing hands-on inspiration and delicious ideas to incorporate into their holiday traditions.

Through hands-on activities and accessible resources, the Fuss Free Holidays series fostered creativity, financial mindfulness, and community engagement. Participants left equipped with practical skills and ideas to make their holidays more joyful and less stressful, creating a lasting impact on their seasonal traditions all while spend time with their loved ones. Overall, the program series has provided valuable insights and practical tips to help individuals navigate the holiday season with ease and creativity.
