In 2018 our Membership for our Adventure Club at the High School grew and we finally got to take our first Kayaking Trip on Lake Cumberland at Knights Landing. All 22 students that attended learned how to safely paddle and maneuver their Kayak and the importance of wearing a life jacket at all times during their time on the water. We discussed the importance of teams and how you should never be on the lake with out someone else and that being safe on the water makes for a wonderful day. We cooked out at the shelter house and had wonderful trip that was too long in the making. We had been planning a kayaking trip for two years and mother nature just would not allow this to happen. One of the young ladies on our trip said that she had been waiting to kayak for two years and I thought wow two years is a long time to wait to learn to use a kayak safely. I feel that it is important to stay positive and focused to be able to reach our goals even if it is to learn to Kayak because some things are worth the wait.
