CloverBud Day Camp

Author: Mackenzie Pogue

Planning Unit: Muhlenberg County CES

Major Program: Leadership

Plan of Work: Competence, Confidence, Connection, Compassion and Character

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Day camps are more than just a place to have fun—they offer a unique opportunity to teach young children valuable life skills. At this year's 4-H CloverBud Day Camp, 40 participants engaged in a range of activities designed to help them grow both personally and socially. From learning how to safely use tools to appreciating the beauty of nature, campers spent their day developing skills that will benefit them for years to come.

One of the key focuses of the camp was teaching the importance of teamwork. Activities like group games, and team-building challenges encouraged campers to collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve together. Through these exercises, children learned how to rely on one another, share responsibilities, and celebrate each other's strengths.

In a fun and engaging way, the day camp emphasized the importance of listening and following directions. Teen counselors led the campers through various structured activities, from crafting projects to group games, where paying attention and following step-by-step instructions was crucial. This simple skill is foundational not just for camp, but for everyday life.
