The Simpson Co. 4-H agent taught Health Rocks to the 6th grade at FSMS for six years. Two years ago the agent and the FRYSC coordinator decided to train three 4-H teens to teach Health Rocks in the classroom, under the supervision of the 4-H agent. It was a progressive experience and leadership development opportunity for the teens, as they had each been in 4-H for five or more years. Teen teachers was also implemented because the 6th graders could better relate to the high school teen teachers. The teens spent days training, selecting & planning lessons, then teaching them back to the 4-H agent in preparation for being in the classroom. They then spent approx. 45 hours at the middle school teaching two days a month for four months. 

In 2024 six 4-H teens were trained then split into two teaching groups of three each, and assigned a team of 100 students to teach. These teens taught 200 6th graders at Franklin-Simpson Middle School. The teens spent 12 hours training with Catherine and demonstrating the lessons they selected prior to going into the classrooms. They each spent six days or approximately 30 hours each in the classroom. Their lessons included a Jeopardy game with the facts about tobacco/alcohol/other drugs, a lesson on tobacco, a day using fatal vision goggles, a health fair, a goal setting & decision making day. To end Health Rocks these teens planned and organized a school wide assembly for all the 6^th graders where they saw first-hand what would happen if a student brings drugs into the school with the Sheriff’s office drug dog. The assembly included the Superintendent, school board, school resource officer, and principal all addressing the class.
