Extension is the best kept secret" is a phrase every extension employee has heard at one point in time. Clark County Extension decided to try and spread the news about all of the wonderful services extension offers and hopefully reach new people thru a 2024 Fall Fest event. This event was free and open to everyone of all ages. Many steps were made in advertising this event including articles in the local newspaper, newsletters, local organizations, and shows on local radio. Many activities were offered from fish casting competition, make and take crafts, free flower bulbs with demo on planting, vegetable seed giveaways, food tasting for healthy recipes, numerous self led games, corn bins for youth sensory play, family conversational tools, and free food for attendees. There was an extension info area where each program area displayed info of class offerings, club activities, volunteer opportunities, and educational information available. All the efforts paid off in the end with more than 620 people visiting the Extension Office, many for the first time ever. Also, included volunteers from all program areas including such as 4-H teens, ag volunteers, master gardeners, and master gardeners. From this event, we have included numerous new sign up for all newsletter, volunteer sign ups, gave away eleven fishing poles with the help of the Clark County Fish and Game association, and individuals learned how to make healthy taste snacks with fall staples such as pumpkin and apples. From the fishing pole giveaway, one participant has already caught a bass.
