The Livingston County 4-H Council has been working tirelessly to provide support and opportunities for the youth in our community. Through their dedication to maintaining a rigorous meeting schedule, they have developed new programs, fundraisers, and goals that have directly benefited our 4-H members. One of their most notable achievements is their commitment to raising funds to support 4-H campers, making camp more accessible to local youth.
This year, the Council contributed $125 toward covering the cost for the first 25 campers, significantly helping us get closer to our required goal of bringing a minimum of 50 campers to 4-H Camp. While meeting this goal has been a challenge in the past, their support has brought us closer than ever before. The Council's long-term goal is to continue growing their sponsorship efforts, offering even more camp support for future students. Many of them also serve as Adult and Teen Camp Volunteers.
In addition to camp sponsorships, the Council covers the costs of all "extra" camp classes for Livingston County campers. These classes—such as tie-dye, outdoor cooking, and crafts—are typically additional fees, but thanks to the Council’s support, they remain affordable and accessible to all students.
The Livingston County 4-H Council is also focused on supporting teen leadership development. They have provided scholarships for participation in state-level programs, including state teen leadership boards, Teen Summit, Teen Conference, and National Congress. Additionally, they cover the costs for area teen council outings, ensuring all students can participate for $5 or less. And they support Middle School Students involvement in our elite Teen Leadership Academy.
By actively working to make the 4-H experience more affordable and accessible, the Livingston County 4-H Council is truly living the 4-H motto, "to make the best better," for all our members. Their commitment to building a stronger 4-H community continues to open doors for our youth, allowing them to grow, learn, and thrive.
