South East Kentucky Bee School 2018

Importance: McCreary County has over 75 beekeepers with over 550 hives. This was the ninth Bee School held between McCreary and Whitley County.

Educational Programs: The South Eastern Bee Keeping School was held to assist bee keepers in South Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee with needed information to make their bee keeping efforts more successful. An all day program was held that offered 25 different educational classes that bee keepers could attend, from beginning to advanced. A trade show was also held during the school.

Extension Role: The McCreary and Whitley Cooperative Extension Services sponsored the event along with the Whitley County and Big South Fork Beekeepers, the McCreary Central FFA. The ANR Agent helped plan the program along with a, recruited speakers, publicized the event, taught two sessions and worked the event that day.

Impact:  

       115 people from 2 states attended the event.
