As a result of the program, students gained the following knowledge and skills.
48% identified the importance of using separate cutting boards for meat and fruits or vegetables
53% identified safe knife handing techniques
26% formulated time management strategies in meal preparation.
38% identified ways to avoid burns in the kitchen
In addition, because of attending the Recipe for Life program, students plan to make the following behavior changes:
94% plan to help prepare food at home
75% plan to try new foods
88% plan to eat more fruits
Feedback was collected from Plano’s FRYSC coordinator, she states that the students were very excited to learn and she loved how it encouraged picky eaters to try more foods.
