The problem
Master Gardner's look for local service project that can have a lasting impact on the community by providing educational opportunities, impacting community behavioral changes, working with other groups, and promoting the progress of extension.

A community composting pilot project.

The National Board of Realtors, Murray Calloway County Board of Reality, The Serra Club, and the Calloway County Master Gardeners
Program impact or participant response.
The Calloway County Master Gardeners are leading a community composting pilot project the demonstrate the feasibility and profitability of a community composting system. This project will provide community educational opportunities about how to compost, the impact that food waste has on the landfill, and how communities can join together to make changes. The National Board of Realtors provided the initial funding for this project and the Calloway County Master Gardeners will be coordinating the volunteer processing effort. The Calloway County Extension office will be processing all the data collected about inputs that are going into the system and outputs from the system.
