Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Due in part to the COVID-19 Pandemic and because of a position vacancy, Garrard County’s FCS program was experiencing somewhat of a slump in educational classes and attendance. 1 homemaker club continued to meet and most classes that were once full of excited participants had all but vanished.
The goal of the FCS Agent the last 2 years was to revitalize this program and bring people back into the office, new and old. In the past year and a half, large accomplishments have been made in that area. There are now 3 active homemaker clubs and the homemaker numbers have nearly doubled. The homemaker Executive Council is now full, whereas before there was only a secretary. A garden club has been started, which is comprised of many members of a club that once met, the Garrard County Herb Club. Members who had scattered are now trickling back in, as well as many new people. This is in collaboration with the ANR Agent, and many guest speakers! There have also been 3 sessions of Bingocize, which is a new program to the county and has been very popular. Laugh and Learn has also started in the county. New partnerships have been made, and great strides are being taken every day to grow the programs. A highly successful program has also been started, Cook Wild Garrard County, which is a collaboration of all the office staff and has brought in record numbers to the Extension Office.
Every a day, new efforts are being made to expand the reach Garrard County Extension has and bring education into more underserved parts of the county and its residents.
