In 2019 the Christian County Community Needs Assessment determined that there was a significant need for consumer and financial literacy programs for youth.

Christian County 4-H partnered with Christian County Public Schools and offered 4-H It's Your Reality to 549 9th grade students at HHS, CCHS, and the virtual learning academy.  Youth participated in classroom workshops to help them understand income, taxes, and the expenses of housing and transportation.  Later in the year, students were able to participate in a simulation that walked them through life expenses they could potentially have each month.  Many students commented on the cost of daycare and basic utilities.

87% of youth surveyed indicated an increased understanding on how to budget their money.

92% of youth surveyed indicated an increased understanding on the impact of career selection and lifestyle choices

98% of youth surveyed indicated an increased understanding on the impact of the cost of children on everyday expenses.
