The problem

In today’s world farmers, especially those that raise grain crops, have a difficult time sorting through the propaganda and agribusiness sales pitches.  There are many different products available on the market that have claims and and unbiased research that show a positive net return. However, most university research proves otherwise it is very difficult to almost impossible for farmers to sort through this much information and be able to identify what is beneficial.

The educational program response

After completing a text survey with several young farmers in the county, this ANR agent secured 4 extension specialist to present programs that grain farmers felt were most beneficial to them.  University of Kentucky extension specialists presented on topics of grain, marketing, soil, fertility, and soil health. These are areas that seem to be the most confusing and definitely can be the most costly to farmers.  Funds were secured to offer a lunch during this meeting.  Thirty seven men and women participated

The participants/target audience

The targeted audience was mostly grain farmers and Agribusinesses. This ANR agent, particularly, campaign to young farmers for these are topics where their education is lacking and they are the group that are most likely to make change.
