Outcome: Initial Outcome

Madison county continues to be among the top three counties for growth in Kentucky. Many who move here are first time land/farm owners in search of guidance for how to get started and connected to the community. Local farmers and landowners also continue to need assistance and education for their production challenges as well.

In an effort to educate and connect producers with one another programs and with input from the Madison County Extension Agriculture Council, Madison County Beef Cattle Association and Madison County Farm Bureau. The Madison County ANR agent with occasional collaboration with local agriculture organizations, offered several producer educational programs from fall to spring of 2023 and 2024. A wide range of program topics were offered.

Among the programs were Beef Quality and Care Assurance trainings, Native Warm Season Grass production field day, grain storage and handling program, leadership Madison County Ag Day tour, KSU pasture field day, grain rescue tube information and certification training for first responders, Central KY Hay contest and producer program, UK Animal Science Department Students BEEF 101 presentation, Beef cattle winter feeding strategies program, Carbon Credit Markets for Grain Crops and Forestry, Beef Cattle Veterinary Update, Master Logger CEU Logger Web TV, KSU Small Ruminant Parasite Clinic, Central KY Cow/Calf Profitability Conference, Regional Livestock Predator Control/Trapping Workshop and local Beef Cattle Farm Field Day.

All totaled, 616 producers from Madison and surrounding counties participated in these field days, workshops, conferences and meetings.
