The problem was the lack of nutrition and water daily.

 

The educational program response was educating on nutrition and water.

 

The participants/target audience was youth of various ages.

Program impact or participant response was a plate should be colorful and lemons in water tastes better than soda.

   Mt. Olla Baptist Church located in Smiths Grove, Kentucky allowed the Kentucky State University’s West Regional Center to hold programming classes and events within their church. The program consisted of the different food groups, and the value of drinking water instead of soda and juice. Mt. Olla Baptist Church hosted these events on June 19, 2024. The Kentucky State University, Cooperative Extension Service, and West Regional Center representative provided information on nutrition and water to twenty youth individuals. The program captured the youth’s attention.

     The materials that Kentucky State University, Cooperative Extension Service, West Regional Center presented are as followed:

Make Better Beverage Choices (informational and descriptive)

            -Water

            -Lemons

            -Oranges

Make A Healthy Kids Plate (informational and descriptive form)

            - 5 food groups

Choose Sensible Portion Sizes (informational and descriptive form)

            -Suggested serving sizes

My Plate Bingo (informational, interactive, and descriptive form)

My Plate Activity (informational, interactive, and descriptive form)      

     The materials presented gave insight into habits, choices, and alternatives for dealing with nutrition and for participants. Participants were able to ask questions and receive feedback from the representative. The program gave knowledge to participants on maintaining and obtaining healthy choices. The Kentucky State University, Cooperative Extension Service, West Regional Center is looking forward to the next event at Mt. Olla Baptist Church.
