The Month of June

Author: Nolan Pettit

Planning Unit: McLean County CES

Major Program: Community Vitality and Leadership – 4-H Youth Development

Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

The month of June has been the best time I have had since becoming an agent. Being a new agent it is hard to get your feet on the ground and get programs up and running but this month things finally clicked! We started off the month by hosting Green River Area District Lamb show again where we had over double the participants from last year! The next week was camp, where we had 12 campers, three of which were first time campers. We had an amazing week with none of the kids wanting to go back home. When we did return though it was time for day camps/workshops as our county fair is just around the corner! (July 11-14th) I was able to hold 9 different workshops ranging from art to gardening to woodworking & circuits. The amount of children and parents that turned up was unlike anything I have seen since I started. The interest meetings I have set up for clubs in July are filling up faster than I could have imagined. I rounded out the month working/speaking at 3 events for donations, I was able to speak with Farm Bureau and secure them as a sponsor for our Farm to Fork Charity dinner, as well as secure over $450 in donations directly towards our 4-H club. This month has felt like things are beginning to click and that our program is very much beginning to THRIVE!

I have attached pictures below as well as a link to an article written about our programming in the local paper last week!
