Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

According to the 2022 Agriculture Bulletin, Mason County ranks 15 in the state for tobacco production.    With the continued interest in tobacco production the county hosted a regional Tobacco GAP training required for producers by most production contracts.   The Mason County Extension Service partnered with the University of Kentucky Tobacco Specialist and GAP Connections representative to hold a producer training in February.  Over 35 producers from across the state attended the regional training.  Producers gained insight into production topics, fertilizer, disease control, labor standards, best management practices, and many other topics during the evening.  The training was the first required step for the in-depth GAP certification that many producers are participating in for todays industry standards.
