Many youth lack the opportunity or experience of attending an overnight camp without their parents and guardians. They need experiences that will allow them to acquire and practice life skills that will serve them the rest of their lives.
Youth are provided the opportunity to go to camp where they can become more independent, care for themselves, explore new activities and a wide range of other life skills.
Youth ages 9-18 from Magoffin County, Kentucky attended this year's camp June 4-7, 2024 at JM Feltner Camp in London, KY. This year's campers included 26 youth and 6 adult volunteers.
69% of youth reported that this was their first time attending 4-H camp.
96% of youth reported trying a new activity while at camp.
88% of youth reported meeting and interacting with campers from other counties.
92% of youth said they felt better able to pack and care for their own items after camp.
