Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The problem : Access to healthy foods is a major problem in Lee County, Lee county citizens are ranked as one of the unhealthiest population in the nation. Lack of access to healthy foods is a leading cause of this.


The educational program response: Several programs has taken place to address this issue. The Lee County Extension Office has conducted programs on home gardening, raised bed production, growing your own plants, soil health, disease management, and harvesting and storage methods.


The participants/target audience: We targeted families to address this issue

Program impact or participant response. Over 35 participants participated in at least 1 program, over 25 participants participated in over 2 programs. 100 percent of participants increased there gardening production due to their participation in these programs. 75 percent of the participants said they grew crops that they had never grown before.100 percent said they intend to increase production next year due to their knowledge gained for these programs.
