Major Program: Leadership

Plan of Work: Developing leadership skills- youth NEW

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

For many young people, the decision on what to do after high school is confusing. Most students have plans to attend a university, community college, trade school, or continue working for family. The Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference gives those planning to attend college a glimpse of college life at the University of Kentucky.

4-Hers can pick a major and attend a leadership minor during Teen Conference. The majors offer many options, such as Choir, Vet Science, and Dentistry. During minors, youth learn leadership skills and take part in a service project in Lexington. Youth get the feel for dorm life and attend fun, evening activities where they get to network with other teens from around the state.

At the 2024 KY 4-H Teen Conference, Pulaski sent 10 delegates, doubling the number from last year! Three of the delegates attended with a partial scholarship from their awards for the Kentucky 4-H Achievement Program. Five of the delegates have attended multiple times. 100% of the delegates reported plans to attend next year in 2025.
