Time Well Spent:Organizing Tips for Increased Productivity

Author: Stephanie Hestand

Planning Unit: Monroe County CES

Major Program: Aging-General

Plan of Work: Adopting healthy lifestyle choices for overall well-being

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Personal and professional productivity allows an individual to make progress and helps to complete necessary tasks throughout the day. Some of these tasks may include how they spend their time with family and improving their well-being. Unfortunately, many individuals are not as productive as they would like to be due to their personal home or workspaces getting cluttered or disorganized. The power of clutter can be a big distraction of completing daily tasks whether it is at home or work. Tips to learning how to organize these spaces can help reduce stress and improve your well-being.

Monroe County Family and Consumer Science Agent presented the lesson Time Well Spent: Organizing Tips for Increased Productivity to the Monroe County Homemakers for the monthly leader lesson. The program consisted of a power point presentation with tips on how to organize your space and how to include these tips in a personal routine. The program included an activity for the audience to reflect on their current routines and what they can do to improve their routines to help be more productive. A discussion followed with the audience sharing their routines and bringing forth new ideas on how to organize and clean up clutter and how to manage time to enjoy family and well-being activities.

All participants agreed 100 percent to taking steps to organize and improve their home or workspace to help with their productivity and 100 percent of the participants agreed to creating a personal productivity routine that will help them to include spending time with family especially at dinner time, exercise, or enjoying leisure time with a good book to read.
