Plan of Work: Developing Leadership and Volunteerism

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The Kentucky Homemaker Association is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of life for the families and communities in which they live. To be able to accomplish this goal they must continually develop and improve upon their leadership skills. With local, state, and national budgets experiencing large cuts a need exist for Homemakers to contact elected officials through written communication in regards to various programs throughout the community.  However, many are uncomfortable with doing so. To help the Hart County Homemaker leadership overcome this fear and to sharpen their communication skills the bi-monthly Family and Consumer Science Newsletter began featuring articles written by the executive council. As a result, the Homemaker leadership has gained confidence in both written and verbal communication.
