4-H Camp Fun For All

Author: Bridgett Poteet

Planning Unit: Edmonson County CES

Major Program: Camping

Plan of Work: 4-H Youth Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

On June 11-14, the agents from the Edmonson County Extension office embarked for the West Kentucky 4-H Camp grounds to meet with 4 other counties for several days of fun-filled activities, games, and opportunities to learn new skills.

From Edmonson County there were 78 youth (campers and teens) plus 10 adults (leaders and agents) that attended camp.  Last year, Edmonson County brought 64 campers and 7 adults to camp.  Keeping the streak alive, this was the third year in a row for Edmonson County to set a camp attendance record for our county.  We camped with over 300 youth and adults from Daviess, McLean, Meade, and Union counties. Camp staff really went the extra mile this year to provide a multitude of activities for our campers!  Campers were able to pick classes from archery, riflery, crafts, community service, board games, old-fashion games, hunter's orange card certification, disc golf, hammocks, boating, fishing, outdoor and indoor cooking, zip-lining, photography, and many more!  Not to mention the daily recreation activities, swimming, karaoke, and camp favorite GaGa ball!  Each night ended with specialized activities from Mega Relay, Wet-n-Wild Water Night, and Glo Sally.  We hope our campers came home with lots of news skills, fantastic stories, and ready to go back to camp next year!

Cloverbud Camp was no exception this year.  Edmonson County brought one of their biggest groups to date with 7 campers, 6 adults, and 1 agent in attendance for a weekend filled with a mini version of camp experiences.
