Author: Sherri Farley
Planning Unit: Campbell County CES
Major Program: Master Clothing Volunteer
Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work
Outcome: Initial Outcome
A Basic Sewing Class for ages 18 and up was planned by the 4-H Youth Development agent along with the leadership of one of the Master Clothing Volunteers in the area. Information was sent out via social media and nine participants signed up. All 5 of the MCVs used the class as part of their required volunteer teaching hours for the state program.
Four other new Master Clothing Volunteers assisted with the class held on a Saturday in May from 9am-4pm. The volunteers also offered a time prior to class beginning at 9am for anyone who wanted to come in and receive a refresher course if they choose to do so.
The participants had varying degrees of sewing skills with a majority having little to no skills. They made a pair of lounge pants and everyone in attendance completed the project.
All participants were very complimentary of the Master Clothing Volunteer's guidance and assistance. The MCV's were pleased with everyone's progress and completion of the project.
