Plan of Work: Development of Volunteer Leaders
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
A community cannot thrive without good leadership. The Butler County Extension Service offered a leadership development workshop for leaders and potential leaders who wanted to increase their knowledge of parliamentary procedure, the duties of the secretary, and taking secretary minutes. Leadership development programming continues to be an area extension leadership identifies as an important need for our community. A presentation about Robert’s Rules of Order was developed using the reference book and an extension publication. A separate segment was developed on secretary minutes and secretary duties. I presented both topics. The program was marketed to the community at large, extension leadership, city and county government, and our schools. 22 people from four counties attended the event. It was held at the extension office. We had attendees currently in leadership and those that are interested in becoming involved. An electronic qualtrics evaluation was used to gather participant’s reactions to the program. The qualtrics evaluation revealed that 100% of participants increased their knowledge of the topics presented. 94% believed they would use the knowledge gained within their organization this year. 100% believed the presenter’s information was definitely or probably up to date and relevant. The participants provided suggestions for future leadership development trainings.
