Extension agents in Daviess and Henderson County graduated 25 Daviess and Henderson County women farmers and farm spouses from a 15 instructional hour Annies Project Farm Management Training Program for Women in March of this year. Participants in this program received instructional information related to farm management pertaining to human resources, communication, and organizational leadership. Knowledge of crop insurance policy options, personal property and business liability insurance options. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping terms, business structure options and how to create a balance sheet. Knowledge of direct-to-consumer sales and consumer interest trends. Knowledge of the commodity markets, an understanding of what drives market basis and marketing plan options. Knowledge of the importance of written business plans and what ag lenders value in successful borrowers. Knowledge of property legal descriptions and how property may be titles in Kentucky. These women completed this program with a better understanding of the principles that result in successful business.
