Homemaker Clubs

Planning Unit: Trigg County CES

Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association

Plan of Work: Developing Human Capital

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

The Kentucky Homemakers Association has always been an integral part of the local community. Unfortunately, since the Covid Pandemic, the number of active members had dwindled significantly. Trigg County Homemakers are thrilled to report that those numbers are on the rise.

Realizing the importance of their local Homemaker Clubs, and with the intent to spread the word, they began posting about the Homemaker Association on their Family and Consumer Sciences Facebook page each time they shared their upcoming events. They have had several people in the community, new to extension, attend classes. Two of the largest programs in attendance of new people to extension were the Christmas Candy and Cookie Making Classes, and Basic Bread Baking Classes. At these events, information about Homemaker Clubs was shared, and the Homemakers present were introduced in an attempt to help build connections.

In the past 6 months, our Trigg County Homemakers Clubs have grown by 39%.This is a tremendous increase and the Homemakers are excited to see their membership continue to grow.
