Laugh & Learn

Author: Christa O'Cull

Planning Unit: Lewis County CES

Major Program: Child Development General

Plan of Work: Healthy life style choices make for a happy, healthy life

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The problem - Lewis County has limited programs for pre-school aged children.

The educational program response - Laugh and Learn is a University of Kentucky research based program designed to meet the educational needs of two, three, and four year olds. 6 children are currently enrolled with our program held at the Lewis County Public Library.

The participants/target audience - Lewis County children age 2-4 are invited to participate in Laugh & Learn.  We have posted in our FCS newsletter, Facebook page and the LCPL has done the same.  The participants we currently have are from the Vanceburg area where the library is located.

Other partners (if applicable) - The library staff has been willing to assist us with every lesson (one meeting each month)

Program impact or participant response.- The children learned immediately to come around a semi-circle table and be seated anxiously awaiting class time to arrive.  They are elated with all the activities that unfold during the 1 hour session and the children have been repeat attendees.
