Planning Unit: Knox County CES

Major Program: Community Engagement

Plan of Work: Growing Leadership

Outcome: Initial Outcome

High School Students are not always found to be college or career ready when entering the workforce.  Lynn Camp High School FCCLA and FCS Students traveled to Knox County Cooperative Extension Office to present a prepared lesson for community participants.  The Lesson was titled, “Beach Ball Bag.”  The students presented a two hour long, step by step lesson to a group of Knox County Community Members that signed up to attend the program.  The “Beach Ball Bag is a sewing program that instructs participants to take an old beach bag and turn it into a purse.

The FCCLA Students were able to present their state leadership presentations to prepare for their actual state presentations. When students presented presentations at state FCCLA conference they placed within presentation categories.

10 Students were able to present a lesson in a group setting.

10 students successfully prepared a lesson.

100% of students increased presentation skills.

100% of participants increased their knowledge on how to recycle items.

This program not only increased the knowledge of the participants but helped the students travel out of the classroom and gain confidence to present in front of a large group. By providing this program, The Knox County Cooperative Extension Office has built a strong partnership with the Lynn Camp FCS teacher and Classroom.
