The McCracken County Cooperative Extension Service hosts a Toolbox Garden Series which takes place on the first Tuesday of every month. Each session covers a different topic to educate the public on a variety of horticulture subjects. For January, the Horticulture Assistant coordinated with Lindsay Tatum Bowles of Tatum Studios to plan a flower arranging Toolbox. It took place on January 2nd, and not only was this the first session of 2024, but it was also the first Toolbox that Savannah had taken the lead on organizing. The event was a great success with 43 participants and a lot of positive feedback. The slideshow presentation was very informative, interesting, and fun. The session stuck to the basics of flower arranging so that everyone could leave with a good foundation on the topic in which they could add to and grow upon. Each participant was able to make their own arrangement with real flowers and greenery that was provided by the McCracken County Cooperative Extension Service from Riverside Wholesale Florist. In addition, Savannah filmed the Toolbox session and made a YouTube video to put on the McCracken County Cooperative Extension Service website for anyone to view even if they were not able to be there in person, something that she has continued doing for each Toolbox to reach more people.
