The impact of the recent Lyon County 4-H and Crittenden County 4-H Kentucky State Capitol visit extends far beyond the walls of government buildings, as evidenced by the overwhelmingly positive post-program evaluation statistics. Empowering youth as leaders and fostering a deeper understanding of civic engagement lies at the heart of this transformative initiative, and the results speak volumes.
Amidst growing concerns over declining civics education nationwide, the Kentucky 4-H youth have emerged as shining examples of proactive citizenship. As part of the post-program evaluation, participants were asked to reflect on their experiences and the impact of the State Capitol visit on their personal growth and civic awareness.
A staggering 84% of participants reported that their involvement in 4-H provides them with a unique opportunity to assume leadership roles, reinforcing the organization's ethos of nurturing leadership skills among its members. This statistic underscores the profound impact of 4-H in empowering youth to take charge and make a difference in their communities.
Furthermore, an overwhelming 95% of participants expressed a deeper understanding of how government operates because of their visit to the State Capitol. Through firsthand experiences, engaging discussions, and interactions with local legislators, these young ambassadors gained invaluable insights into the mechanisms of democratic governance, laying the foundation for informed civic participation.
Equally impressive is the fact that 95% of participants reported being able to recognize leaders in their state and local communities following the trip. By witnessing democracy in action and engaging with elected officials, these youth developed a keen awareness of the importance of leadership and the role it plays in shaping the future of their communities.
Perhaps most encouraging is the resounding vote of confidence in the impact of 4-H activities, with 95% of participants expressing their intention to be involved in more 4-H activities following the trip. As Kentucky's 4-H youth continue to lead by example, their journey serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative potential of youth engagement and community action. In an era marked by uncertainty and division, these young leaders stand as beacons of hope, lighting the path towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all. Through their unwavering dedication to civic engagement and leadership, they are not only shaping the narrative of today but also laying the groundwork for generations to come.
