Planning Unit: Mason County CES

Major Program: LEAP

Plan of Work: Family and Consumer Sciences

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The L.E.A.P program, in partnership with the local school, preschool, and head start, has made a significant impact on approximately 195 children by promoting healthy life habits. Through engaging activities such as reading fun books, providing nutritious snacks, and incorporating exercise games, the program aims to educate and empower children. With four visits completed out of the six planned, the children have shown enthusiasm and enjoyment in participating. The program has successfully fostered a positive learning environment, allowing the children to acquire valuable knowledge while having fun.

Through engaging sessions using a fun book as a learning tool, children have not only absorbed key concepts but have embraced the joy of discovery and understanding. The heart of L.E.A.P lies in its mission to instill healthy habits at a young age. By introducing a variety of activities, including healthy snacks and exercise games, the program has successfully transformed the way children perceive wellness. L.E.A.P is a collaborative effort between the Extension office, local schools, preschools, and head starts. The impact extends beyond the classroom, creating a sense of community and shared responsibility for the health and education of our children. This collaborative approach has fortified relationships, fostering an environment where everyone involved is invested in the success and growth of each child. Children are not only learning about healthy habits but are doing so in an environment that prioritizes fun, making the educational experience memorable and impactful.
