4-H Camp is a cornerstone of the Cumberland County 4-H program, providing transformative experiences for both 4-H members and volunteers who attend. This experiential learning program offers a plethora of educational, recreational, and social activities that foster personal growth, leadership skills, and a deeper connection to nature. In the summer of 2023, 82 people from Cumberland County attended Camp, the largest attendance since 2007.
For 4-H members (youth ages 9-18), 4-H Camp provides a safe and supportive environment to challenge themselves, try new things, and make lifelong friendships. Through activities such as rock climbing, archery, swimming, and outdoor survival skills, members learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving.
They also can explore their interests and passions through a variety of classes and activities from arts and crafts to natural resource related sciences. Camp also impacts the dedicated volunteers who give their time and serve as mentors, role models, and teachers, and instilling important values. Not only do they have the satisfaction of seeing campers grow and succeed, but they also develop leadership, organizational, and communication skills themselves.
