Plan of Work: Management, Production & Marketing of Agriculture Products

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Recognizing the need to diversify the agricultural production and increase the income of local farmers, the Extension leadership identified the need for  a series of programming efforts on crops such as garlic production and microgreens cultivation. These programs involved demonstrations, classroom style labs, and field day presentations, where participants learned about the benefits, challenges, and best practices of growing these crops. Over 70 local residents attended these programs, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. More than 95 percent of the participants stated that they had gained knowledge on growing microgreens and garlic, and all of them who participated in hands-on demonstrations said that they now had a better understanding of producing these crops. The Extension service plans to continue supporting these alternative crops and expanding the opportunities for local horticulture producers.
