The Youth Agricultural Incentives Program (YAIP) is funded by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund. The program encourages youth to engage in and explore agricultural opportunities. Students must be enrolled in elementary, middle or high school including home schooled students. Applicants must have parental consent and participate in a mentorship program with an agricultural organization.
For the first time Casey County offered the Youth Agricultural Incentive Program to local youth. Students worked with the ANR agent to apply for the program. Those that were approved then worked on their individual projects. Upon completion each project was reviewed by the committee and site visits conducted by the ANR agent.
Thanks to this program 16 youth were able to complete projects for their agricultural experience that otherwise they may have not been able to accomplish without the additional funding.
