The Green River Area Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agents taught the Healthy Homemaker Series to the Green River Area Homemaker Leader Trainings. The McLean County FCS Agent taught the lesson “Let’s Get Moving”. The lesson focuses on the importance of physical activity and the health benefits of being physically active. In addition, ways to begin start being more physically active. The lesson was taught at the March leader training in Daviess and Henderson counties to 39 volunteers. The volunteers who attended the leader training will in turn teach the lesson to their individual homemaker clubs. After the lesson 100% of participants were able to identity reasons why it is important to be physically active. Furthermore, they were able to identify the four types of exercise recommended. One homemaker was quoted saying “the exercises they learned from the class are something her club would start doing at their monthly meetings”.
